Congratulations to (Novo Uniao’s) Issa Able from GD Jiu-Jitsu for securing his spot to compete in Abu Dhabi for the second year in a row, after winning the Purple/Open Light and to Kristina Barlaan who took 2nd in the purple to black/129 and 2nd in the open class and to Aaron Wilson who took 2nd in white/163.

Congratulations to Issa Able on Gold in the purple and congratulations to Bruno Bastos on being the American National Black Adult Super Heavy Champ and and placing 2nd in the Open Class!!! This Saturday the Arizona BJJ State Championship promoted by black belt Gustavo Dantas was held. The absolute black belt division paid out one thousand dollars to the winner and a number of gi-clad beasts took to the mats.

The big standout was Bruno Bastos. The Nova União rep had two matches on his way to taking the prize money in the open weight division. Bruno Bastos is a prime example of what people do with Many Weapons!!! Congratulations to Bruno on an excellent showing.

Ben Henderson took first in his weight group and the absolute division to boot. Congratulations Smooth Ben!!!

Broadnax twins Christian and Christopher, won the featherweight and lightweight blue belt divisions. Pan 2010 champion Kristina Barlaan won both her weight group and absolute at blue belt. Congratulations team Many Weapons/team GD Jiu-Jitsu.

Issa Able, who is only 19 years old, was born in Iran, but he has been living in the United States since the age of 11. With only 18 months of training, Issa already has an impressive resume. Since July 2009, besides his AZ State Title, Issa won the 2009 U.S. BJJ Nationals, U.S. No-Gi Nationals, 1st Southwest BJJ Classic, and finished the year winning his first World title at the No-Gi Worlds in Carson, CA, making his instructor, Gustavo Dantas, and his sponsor, “Many Weapons”, very proud. GD Jiu-Jitsu Represents “Many Weapons” at the Abu Dhabi Pro West Coast Trials

Congratulations to Nova União / GD Jiu – Jitsu for handling serious business at Abu Dhabi Pro West Coast Qualifier. It’s been said that when you look good you feel good and when you feel good, you perform good. We at Many Weapons make it our mission to insure that the competitors we represent are fresh dressed like a million bucks. We believe that hard work does not go unrewarded.

Likewise, BJJ Practitioner Gustavo Dantas has dedicated his life to making sure that each and every one of his students approach the mat with all the necessary tools to leave victorious (Many Weapons). This past weekend he took a small group of fearless mercenaries to the Abu Dhabi West Coast Trials in Santa Cruz, California and left with a number of medals and handful standout performances. Most notable Issa Able who won 7 straight matches and will be representing GD Jiu – Jitsu, Nova União and Many Weapons at the Abu Dhabi Pro on April 15th to 17th.

However we are proud of all that the team accomplished against cream of the crop competition. Below are pics of the competitors along with their amazing accomplishments.
